Chicago wins first game on West Coast

(Feb. 24, 2017) — Making its first trip West, the Chicago Mustangs topped Tacoma 9-6 at ShoWare Center.

Forward Taylor Bond scored four times and midfielder Alexis Camarena added three goals to pace Chicago (10-8). Bond leads the team with 37 goals this year.

The Stars (10-9) spotted Chicago five goals to open the game. They responded by scoring three straight to cut the deficit to 5-3. Then, midfielder Francisco “Paco” Gonzalez ripped a shot just inside the third line to the upper corner on a pass from defender Edwin Rojas on the restart.

A Bond goal and a pair of finishes from Camarena built the lead to 9-3 in the fourth frame. The Stars ended the game with three unanswered goals.

Chicago hosts Ontario on Sunday, Feb. 26 at 3 p.m. in the Sears Centre Arena in its home finale.
